Erik ten Hag admits that Manchester United were not good enough in the loss to Newcastle United

Manchester United Erik ten Hag while speaking to Sky Sports via Twitter post his team’s 2-0 loss to Newcastle United, admits that Newcastle were the better team and is adamant that they will fight back from the loss. He said (h/t Eurosport):

“I hate to say it but they were better today – especially their determination, passion and desire. They wanted to win more so they won”

United’s loss to Newcastle allowed our opposition to leapfrog us in the league table and take away the third position.

From having a good distance between third and fourth, we suddenly find ourselves back in the fight for the top four with Tottenham Hotspur also just below in fifth.

Hence, it could be a tough end to the season if things do not go our way as congestion of fixtures could eventually get one over the players. With the team still in two cup competitions alongside the league, games would be coming thick and fast and it would be ideal if we would have all personnel available at this crucial time of the season.

Ten Hag, while admitting disappointment over the team’s lacklustre performances wants to focus on the games ahead and not dwell too much on the loss.

It is important to realise that there are still eleven games to be played and a possibility of attaining a maximum of 33 points, which ends our season on 83 points.

Anywhere near the mentioned points in the league would deem to be a successful first season for Ten Hag and build the foundations for a bigger challenge next season.

United only have to face Spurs and Chelsea of the big clubs while mid-table clubs in Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford also some of the important fixtures before the season ends.

More Manchester United News:

Results in these three-four crucial games will give a fair estimate of how our season will end and it is imperative that we finish the season on a high note and also provide more lucrative options for potential primary targets.
