Manchester United will attempt to prise Joao Felix away from Chelsea

According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United will try to prise Joao Felix away from Chelsea once his loan spell at Stamford Bridge ends in the summer.

Felix, who signed for Chelsea from Atletico Madrid on loan for the remainder of this season in January, does not have his future bonded in west London as the Blues do not have the option to buy once his loan ends.

So, if the Portugal international does not make his stay permanent at Chelsea and returns to his parent club, United are interested in signing him. They were the same in January as well, before the London club came in and scooped in the player.

The report suggests that United boss Erik ten Hag likes the 23-year-old and would like to sign him in the summer. The player is currently enjoying time in the English capital despite the team’s rotten form.

Felix is a quality player who was tactically tied to strings due to the rigid defensive shape of Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid. At Chelsea, he has glimpses of what he can do, but the Blues, who are now without a manager following the sacking of Graham Potter, are playing some ordinary football.

The former Benfica star is a number 10 but can float in the half-spaces and play anywhere in a narrow front line. He is an excellent user of the ball and can play well with an orthodox number nine ahead of him.

If given a chance, United should definitely sign him. Having not gotten backed in the January window, will the situation change for ten Hag in the summer? It might depend on who the owner of the club is by then.
