Manchester United ‘favourites’ to sign Barcelona forward Ansu Fati
Manchester United are the ‘favourites’ to sign Barcelona star Ansu Fati amidst his uncertain future with the Spanish giants, according to Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 20-year-old is being linked with a move away from the La Liga outfit ahead of the upcoming transfer window. If the Blaugrana decide to sell the youngster, the Red Devils are in pole position to acquire his services.
Apart from the Old Trafford side, other Premier League rivals also have the Spain international on their radar. Arsenal, Newcastle United and Chelsea are also monitoring his situation at the Camp Nou side.
Fati made his way through the famous La Masia. Barcelona’s academy has produced world-class talent over the years and the 20-year-old showed signs of that when he broke onto the scene in the 2019/20 season.
However, injuries have hampered the youngster’s development over the years. Ever since, the 20-year-old has not looked like his former self, losing a bit of sharpness.
As a result, in the current campaign, the Spain international has been unable to cement his place in Xavi’s team. He has made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals and providing three assists. However, most of the forward’s appearances have come off the bench.
At the moment, Man United have Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho on the left wing. The England international is our leading goalscorer this season, while the Argentine has made a place for himself in Erik ten Hag’s plans with some clutch performances.
However, the Red Devils evidently lack depth in the number nine position. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst are the only two options at the gaffer’s disposal.

Fati has mostly played on the left-hand side of the attack but can also play through the middle. However, the 20-year-old’s recent performances have not been encouraging. Therefore, it remains to be seen whether the Old Trafford side will make a move for him.
