Ansu Fati ‘unsettled’ at Barcelona amidst Manchester United links
Spain international Ansu Fati is ‘unsettled’ at Barcelona, with Manchester United interested in a move for the youngster, according to Sport (h/t The Sun).
The 20-year-old’s father, Bori Fati, met with the representatives of the Balugrana regarding the forward’s future. The meeting lasted an hour, with the Camp Nou side’s director of football Mateu Alemany and sporting advisor Jordi Cruyff present.
Fati has fallen down the pecking order at the La Liga outfit over the last few months. As a result, the youngster is considering his future in Xavi’s team. But the forward’s current contract runs until 2027.
The Red Devils are eyeing a move for the Spain international in the upcoming transfer window. However, Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool are also monitoring the 20-year-old.
Fati made his way through the youth ranks at Barcelona. The La Masia graduate had an electric start to life in the Blaugarana’s senior squad and broke onto the scene in the 2019/20 season.
In the summer of 2021, after Lionel Messi’s departure, the youngster was also handed the number 10 jersey at the Camp Nou side. However, injuries have hampered the Spaniard’s progress over the years.
At the moment, United have the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho on the wings. Erik ten Hag has been consistent with his picks out wide in the attack.
Rashford has been favoured on the Red Devils’ left wing. The 25-year-old has been in fine form this season and has been the club’s talisman. As for the right-hand side of the forward line, Antony has been the gaffer’s preferred choice.
