Real Madrid are ready to offer Eduardo Camavinga a new bumper contract to fend off interest from Manchester United
According to The Sun (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga.
Erik ten Hag was interested in bringing Camavinga to Old Trafford and see him as a long-term successor to Casemiro.
Having joined Madrid two years back, it does look like a tough deal to do considering the length of his contract and his impressive performances at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Now it is claimed that the faded hopes have suffered a blow with Madrid looking to tie Camavinga to a new contract which could include a huge release clause, estimated to be in the region of a mammoth £874m.
It does signal the Spanish team’s consideration of the player and how highly they regard him, which is true considering he is still 20 and already has one UEFA Champions League under his belt, not to disregard being part of France’s FIFA World Cup runners-up squad.
Camavig has shown exceptional skills and maturity at the age of 20 and it is not a surprise that Madrid are willing to offer him a new contract, as he is seen as a key figure in their rebuild of the post-Luka Modric and Toni Kroos era.
On the other hand, although a striker is the main priority for the summer, there needs to be an addition of a backup to Casemiro, who could eventually take his place.
Casemiro is entering the latter stages of his career and would soon not be able to play on the high levels that he currently puts forward whenever he is donning the Reds jersey.

On the other hand, his suspensions which would in total go up to 8 points really call for a player of the BRazilian’s ilk to manage when the midfielder is absent.
With UEFA Champions League qualification, it would be a sweetener in the acquisition of top players and although the interest in Camavinga does not look advanced as of now, it does feel like things can still change until the moment the new contract is not signed.
