Napoli defender Kim Min-Jae hitting back at the rumours linking his future away
Napoli centre-back Kim Min-Jae hits back when asked about his future after the end of this season. Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in signing him.
Min-Jae is having an excellent season Napoli. He is one of the reasons why Luciano Spaletti’s men are top of the Serie A and solid at the back.
After South Korea’s entertaining 2-2 draw against Colombia, the defender was speaking to the media and got asked the question about his future.
The 26-year-old was not pleased about the question and said this (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“As you know, those rumours are not true at all. I want to focus on my team. I have many tournaments to play. It’s been four or years I have had these rumours. It’s uncomfortable. I wish you don’t spread those stories.
“I cannot be bothered by transfer rumours because they aren’t true. Now I’m focusing on the team, rather than that kind of nonsense. There are so many important matches to go and right now I only want to focus on Napoli.”
If you are a Napoli fan, this statement would fill you with joy and relief. Not only did Min-Jae rubbished the transfer links, but he also reiterated the importance of doing well for the Serie A leaders.
The 26-year-old is anyway already having a fantastic first season in Italy. He was with the Turkish side Fenerbahce before.
If we talk about Manchester United, they signed Lisandro Martinez last summer to bolster their central defensive department. However, Victory Lindelof is expected to leave at the end of this season and Harry Maguire is just Harry Maguire.
So, Erik ten Hag could do with an addition to that department to help with the workload of Raphael Varane, Martinez and co.
Had he confirmed his availability for a transfer in the coming window, the Red Devils should have been in hot pursuit.

If that is not the case, which seems like it after reading the statement, it is maybe time to look at other targets to strengthen this position. Irrespective, this area cannot be left untouched when we enter the start of the next season. It cannot be Min-Jae or bust.
