Manchester United open to using Amad Diallo in swap deal for Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi
Manchester United are open to using Amad Diallo, who is on loan at Sunderland, in a swap deal for Sassuolo star Davide Frattesi, according to Calciomercatoweb (h/t Express).
Erik ten Hag is looking to add another central midfielder to the squad in the upcoming transfer window. The Italy international is seen as an alternative option for the Red Devils.
However, the Old Trafford side will still have to spend a considerable amount to acquire the services of the 23-year-old. The Serie A giants value him at around £30–£35 million.
Frattesi signed for the Neroverdi in the summer of 2017. Subsequently, the midfielder spent a few seasons out on loan in the lower leagues.
But in the previous campaign, he established himself in the Mapei Stadium side’s starting lineup. This term, the Italian has once again been a critical player for Alessio Dionisi’s team.
In the 2022/23 season, the 23-year-old has made 27 appearances in all competitions for Sassuolo, scoring six goals. He was in Roberto Mancini’s squad for the games against England and Malta recently but did not feature.
Amad has been in fine form during his temporary move at Sunderland. Having joined the Black Cats in the summer of 2022, the 20-year-old Ivorian has made 32 appearances in all competitions for them, scoring nine goals and providing three assists.
United have an abundance of talent on the wings with the likes of Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho. However, in the middle of the park, the Red Devils seemingly lack strength in depth.
