Manchester United have sent scouts to watch Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have sent their scouts to keep an eye on Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi.
The Red Devils could make a move for the Italian international over the coming summer window. The 23-year-old signed a new deal with Sassuolo last year, but their resolve is set to be tested after the end of this season.
Frattesi is a central midfielder by trade who can operate as an attacking midfielder too. He has been at Sassuolo since the summer of 2017 but only made his senior league debut there last season. There were a series of loan spells in between.
The former AS Roma player has six goals in 28 appearances in all competitions this season so far, playing most of the games as a central midfielder in a midfield three.
He possesses great pace and the ground-coverage ability for a box-to-box midfielder. He is also an excellent passer of the ball, has a good shot in him and can dribble past people in tight spaces.
Among the areas United are keen to improve in the summer window, central midfield is one. A report in the Manchester Evening News revealed that the club is looking at a young central midfielder to come and take over the role as one of the number eights in the side.
Frattesi has the makings of a sensational player. His attributes and personality suit United’s style of play under Erik ten Hag.

It remains to be seen whether the manager would sanction a move for the Italian in the summer. From what we have seen and read of him, it would be a pretty good business to sign him.
