Manchester United contract for Alejandro Garnacho stalling over image rights

Manchester United are close to agreeing a new contract with Alejandro Garnacho, but the player’s image rights are stalling the process, according to The Sun (h/t Express).

The Red Devils have offered the youngster an enticing deal, with a salary 10 times his current one. Therefore, if the 18-year-old puts pens to paper, he will earn £50,000 a week.

Unfortunately, the Argentine national is still looking to fine-tune a few details. However, the Old Trafford side are confident of securing his future at the Manchester-based club.

Garnacho signed for United in the summer of 2020 from Atletico Madrid. Subsequently, the youngster developed in the Red Devils’ academy. In the previous campaign, he won the FA Youth Cup with the U18 side.

With the arrival of Erik ten Hag, the 18-year-old has broken into the Old Trafford side’s first team. Initially, the forward struggled for opportunities. But in recent months, he has become a pivotal member of the Dutch manager’s plans.

The Argentine has put in some clutch performances over the course of the campaign. Against the likes of Aston Villa, Fulham and Manchester City this term, he has made an impact off the bench. Unfortunately, the youngster was unable to meet up with his national side after getting a call-up.

Marcus Rashford has been preferred on the left wing by Ten Hag. The 25-year-old is the leading goal-scorer for United in the 2022/23 season. However, Garnacho has been an impressive understudy to the England international.

The grass is not always greener elsewhere—that is what the Argentine should realise. At the moment, the 18-year-old is enjoying the manager’s and fans’ faith and is getting regular minutes.

As for United, Garnacho is one of the most exciting talents to have emerged at the club since Rashford. Hopefully, the Old Trafford side will be able to come to terms with the youngster over a new contract soon.
