Christian Eriksen provides latest update on his injury recovery ahead of Manchester United return
Manchester United playmaker Christian Eriksen is happy to be back on the field but will take it step-by-step as he recovers from an ankle injury.
The Danish international has been out of action since late January when a bad tackle from Andy Carroll forced him to go off injured against Reading.
He is expected to return to action next month with crucial games of the season coming up following the international break.
Here’s what Eriksen said when asked about his recovery from a bad injury (h/t Manchester United website):
“Yeah, it is going well. I have just started being outside as you saw [on Instagram] with football boots on. And then we take it from there, that is the next step. I have been in the gym for some weeks now and now it is time to do the next rehab session outside.”
The 31-year-old also revealed that it is weird not to be with the Denmark national team during this international break while admitting that he would have taken this injury setback differently earlier in his career.
After signing as a free agent last summer, Eriksen has been one of United’s best players under Erik ten Hag. He was used both as an attacking number eight and as a deep-lying midfielder.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Inter Milan star was slowly building a good midfield partnership with the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro.
We hope that Eriksen is back fit soon. There are big games galore in the next few weeks, be it in the league, in the FA Cup or the Europa League.
We resume the season with a crunch league game away at Newcastle United, before welcoming Brentford and Everton. The two-legged Europa League quarter-final tie against Sevilla is coming up along with the FA Cup semi-final at Wembley against an in-form Brighton and Hove Albion.

Ten Hag would be wanting as many fit senior players as possible for the final run-in of this campaign. Hopefully, Eriksen joins that list by the time it all resumes.
