Wout Weghorst believes he has done a “good job” at Manchester United
Manchester United star Wout Weghorst, on loan from Championship outfit Burnley, believes he has done a “good job” so far at the Old Trafford side.
The 30-year-old signed for the Red Devils in the previous transfer window on loan from the Clarets. Since then, he has been a pivotal player for Erik ten Hag at the Manchester-based club.
Speaking to the media via Metro, the Holland international is satisfied by the minutes the gaffer has given him at United. The striker came to the Red Devils with a desire to win silverware.
“I’ve played a lot of matches and it shows the trust in me. It also shows that I am doing a good job for the team. That was the thing I wanted when I came here – to contribute and try and help the club to be successful to win trophies.”
Weghorst made a name for himself in the Bundesliga with Wolfsburg. After several prolific years in Germany, the forward made his way to Burnley in January 2022.
However, the 30-year-old struggled during his spell with the Turf Moor side in the Premier League. Subsequently, the Clarets were relegated from the English top flight.
The Holland international had joined Besiktas on a temporary move for the first half of the current campaign, where he thrived. Subsequently, the Old Trafford side acquired his services for the rest of the season.
Erik ten Hag was left with only one natural number nine in Anthony Martial after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure in November. Unfortunately, the French national has been on the sideline a lot since the arrival of the Dutch manager.
As a result, Weghorst’s arrival has been crucial. He has made 18 appearances so far in all competitions for United, scoring two goals and providing two assists. While the striker leaves a lot to be desired in the attacking third, his work off the ball has been admirable.
