Roy Keane has lost confidence in Manchester United despite Fulham win
Manchester United icon Roy Keane has lost some confidence in the Red Devils after a somewhat fortunate victory over Fulham in the FA Cup.
The Cottagers visited Old Trafford on Sunday (19 March) in the quarter-finals of the domestic cup competition. Marco Silva’s team looked threatening for a big chunk of the fixture.
In the first half, the Craven Cottage side went toe-to-toe with the Red Devils. Both teams were unable to create any real opportunities in the opening 45 minutes.
However, the second half started with a number of decent chances for Fulham. Then, in the 50th minute, the Cottagers took the lead after United failed to deal with a low corner. Aleksandar Mitrovic found the back of the net for the first time in the FA Cup for the London-based club.
The Red Devils were unable to do much and it was Silva’s team who could have doubled their lead if not for David de Gea. But at around the 70th-minute mark, the Old Trafford side were awarded a penalty after Willian handled the ball on the goal line.
The Brazilian was sent off and Mitrovic was given his marching orders as well for pushing the referee. In the end, Bruno Fernandes converted the penalty and we scored two more to win 3-1. However, speaking on ITV (h/t The Sun), Keane was not satisfied with United’s display.
“I’ve lost that little bit of confidence watching them now. About a month or two ago, you’re thinking ‘yeah they’re up for it’. I think it’s ok trying to play in moments every now and again but now it seems to be their DNA at the moment. I think they’ve gone into some real bad habits.”
Marcel Sabitzer got on the scoresheet soon after the Red Devils equalised to score his first goal for the Old Trafford side. In the dying minutes, Fernandes got his brace.
United were on top towards the end of the game. However, Fulham evidently lost a lot of strength after having two players sent off.

In recent weeks, we have been unable to get positive results in the Premier League. The Red Devils were once again lacklustre against Fulham until the end. Hopefully, the international break will give some of our players some rest.
