Manchester United are closely monitoring the situation of Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga
According to ESPN (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are monitoring the situation of Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga intending to sign him in the summer.
Veiga is one of the better young midfielders in the Spanish league, who is not only tracked by United, but also by Liverpool, Newcastle United, AC Milan and Napoli.
The 20-year-old’s deal with Celta Vigo expires in the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt). But, clubs can pay his release clause of €40m and sign him.
Veiga has been with Celta since his youth days, before making his senior debut during the 2020/21 season. He is an attacking midfielder who can operate as a central midfielder or a false nine if required.
If we talk about the current season, the Spain U21 international has made 27 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and assisting three.
The 20-year-old possesses great pace and dribbling skills. He is an excellent passer of the ball and has a good shot in him.
United will be spending money in the summer window to add quality and depth to their squad. Erik ten Hag talked about being active in the market as most top clubs will be there to do the shopping.
Reports say that the Red Devils are eyeing up additions in the right-back, central midfield and goalkeeping department, while the search for a striker goes on with Harry Kane being the earmarked, yet tough choice.
If we sign Veiga, the Spaniard would add quality on the ball and great technical aspects in possession. He works hard off the ball as well and can get even better at that the more he plays and gains experience.

There are a lot of things to like about the 20-year-old. With Christian Eriksen not getting any younger, he could fill in that slot of an attacking number eight in a three-man midfield.
