Manchester United among clubs interested in David Raya

Writing in his CaughtOffside column, popular journalist Ben Jacobs has confirmed that Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham are all interested in Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

The search for a new goalkeeper is on for Manchester United, and it seems that David Raya of Brentford is at the top of their list. The young Spaniard has made a name for himself as one of the best shot-stoppers in the Championship, with his ability to play out from the back making him a perfect fit for the modern game.

The 27-year-old is not just a keeper with great reflexes and distribution skills. He’s also a product of the futsal system, which has helped him develop his technical and tactical abilities. This is evident in his calm and composed performances on the pitch, as well as his directness and precision when playing the ball out from the back.

It’s no surprise that Raya has caught the attention of Manchester United, Chelsea, and Spurs, as all three clubs are in need of a quality goalkeeper. Brentford, however, are not willing to let him go without a fight.

However, with Raya having already turned down two new deals from Brentford, it seems that his mind is set on a new challenge. Manchester United, in particular, could offer him the chance to step up to the next level and compete for major titles.

Of course, Chelsea and Spurs are also in the running, with the former having a long-standing interest in the Brighton keeper Robert Sanchez. It remains to be seen whether the Blues will make a move for a new number one. Spurs, on the other hand, are looking to replace Hugo Lloris, who is approaching the end of his career.

Regardless of which club Raya ends up at, there’s no doubt that he has the potential to become one of the best keepers in the world. His performances for Brentford have already caught the eye of Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, who claimed that the player could wear the No.10 shirt.

For Manchester United, signing Raya would be a statement of intent. It would show that the club is serious about challenging for major trophies and that they are willing to invest in quality players for the future of the club.

David de Gea is still at the club though and performing at a high level. Unless Man United have the plan to ship the Spaniard out, it makes no sense to sign someone like Raya as both players will want to be guaranteed starters.

In the end, it will come down to Raya’s own decision. Does he want to stay at Brentford? Or does he want to take the next step in his career and join one of the biggest clubs in England? Let’s see.
