Manchester United ‘willing’ to swap Victor Lindelof for Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries
Manchester United are ‘willing’ to offer Victor Lindelof to Inter Milan as part of a swap deal for full-back Denzel Dumfries, according to Football Insider (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have been linked with acquiring the services of the Holland international over the years. Erik ten Hag is a ‘massive fan’ of his fellow countryman and is keen on adding the 26-year-old to the squad.
To that end, the Old Trafford side are willing to part ways with Lindelof and sweeten the deal for Nerazzurri. The Sweden international has lost his place in the starting lineup this season.
United signed the 28-year-old in the summer of 2017 from SL Benfica. Subsequently, he became a pivotal player for the Red Devils’ first team.
However, with the arrival of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez over the last couple of years, Lindelof has fallen down the pecking order. The Swedish national has started in just five Premier League games in the current campaign.
Dumfries made his move to Inter in the summer of 2021. Since then, the Holland international has been a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s team.
In the current campaign, the 26-year-old has been impressive, scoring two goals and providing six assists in 32 appearances in all competitions. He also shone for the Netherlands in the 2022 World Cup.
At the moment, Ten Hag can call upon Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back. Over the course of the season, the two have shown their value with some impressive displays. However, the former Crystal Palace star has mostly been a backup.
Therefore, if the English national did decide to leave at the end of the season, we would need to bolster the right-hand side of our defence.
