Manchester United ‘crazy’ about signing Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie
Manchester United and other Premier League rivals are ‘crazy’ about signing Frank Kessie from Spanish giants Barcelona, according to Roger Torello of Mundo Deportivo (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Apart from the Red Devils, in the English top flight, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are also interested in the Ivory Coast international. The 26-year-old has had a hard time with the Blaugrana so far.
Kessie made his move to the Camp Nou side in the summer of 2022 on a free transfer after leaving AC Milan. However, the midfielder has struggled to cement his place in the Catalan outfit’s starting lineup.
In the previous campaign, the Ivorian helped the Rosoneri lift the Serie A title. He was pivotal to Stefano Pioli’s team’s success. However, Xavi has not counted on the 26-year-old as much.
This season, Kessie has made 31 appearances in all competitions for Barcelona, scoring two goals and providing three assists. However, he has started in just four La Liga matches so far for the Blaugrana.
Xavi has an abundance of talent to call upon in the middle of the park. The Spanish giants have the likes of Sergio Busquets, Pedri and Gavi at their disposal.
The Camp Nou side also have Frenkie de Jong in their ranks. Erik ten Hag is keen on bolstering the engine room in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, United are also eyeing another push for the Holland international.
Last summer, the Red Devils added Casemiro and Christian Eriksen to the squad. The Brazilian and Danish midfielders have been impressive and pivotal to the Dutch manager’s plans in Manchester.

However, the gaffer seemingly does not have a lot of quality to call upon from the bench when it comes to the middle of the park. The likes of Fred and Scott McTominay have been inconsistent over the years. Therefore, a player like Kessie has the ability to add depth to our engine room.
