Manchester United make contact with Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram over summer transfer
Manchester United have ‘made contact’ with Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram over a summer transfer move, according to Calciomercato (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 25-year-old’s current contract with Die Fohlen expires at the end of the season. Now, the France international is looking to start a new experience at a different club.
Currently, the Red Devils have got in touch with the forward’s camp to figure out whether he would be interested in moving to Manchester. However, Serie A giants Juventus and Inter Milan are also eyeing the striker.
Thuram signed for the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2019. Since then, he has been a regular member of the Borussia-Park side’s starting lineup.
However, in the current campaign, the French national has shone, with Daniel Farke playing him exclusively as a number nine. He has found the back of the net 14 times and has provided four assists in 25 appearances in all competitions.
The 25-year-old also caught a lot of people’s attention with the few minutes he was given in Qatar. Didier Deshcmps’ team reached the final but were unable to get the better of Argentina in the 2022 World Cup.
United seem to be in a predicament at the moment. Anthony Martial has been injured for most of the season. As a result, the Red Devils had to sign Wout Weghorst on loan to provide cover for the 27-year-old.
The Holland international has been the only available natural striker at Erik ten hag’s disposal for the last few weeks. Therefore, we could do with more quality in depth in the number nine position.
