Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho suffered an injury against Southampton and it is ‘more serious than expected’, according to TyC Sports (h/t Express).

In our previous match versus the Saints in the Premier League, the Argentine came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute and replaced Jadon Sancho. However, after a strong challenge from Kyle Walker-Peters, the 18-year-old came off for Fred.

Garnacho suffered an ankle injury and tests carried out have not been positive. He is expected to be on the sideline for a considerable period.

The youngster was included in the Argentina squad after his first international call-up for the upcoming friendlies against Panama and Curacao. Unfortunately, the 18-year-old is anticipated to miss the matches.

Garnahco has enjoyed a breakout season for Man United. After initially struggling to find his way into Erik ten Hag’s plans, the youngster’s clutch performances changed the Dutch manager’s mind.

The Argentine has emerged as a key player for the former Ajax head coach on the Red Devils’ bench. Against the likes of Aston Villa, Fulham, Manchester City and West Ham United over the last few months, the 18-year-old has been impressive.

In the current campaign, Garnacho has made 29 appearances in all competitions for the Old Trafford side. The youngster has scored four goals and provided five assists.

Marcus Rashford has been in fine form since Ten Hag’s arrival. The 25-year-old has shouldered the burden of Man United’s attack. However, the Argentine forward has proven to be a decent backup to the England international.
