Manchester United are in advanced negotiations for SL Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos
According to Football Transfer Tavern (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United are in pole position to sign Portugal and SL Benfica star Goncalo Ramos.
Ramos rose to superstardom when he scored a hattrick for Portugal at the FIFA World Cup in what was his first start for the national team.
The talent was there for everyone to see and his exploits with Benfica have made him one of the most in-demand strikers in the market right now. Currently, in 34 appearances in domestic competitions, Ramos has scored 23 times for the club while also giving out 9 assists.
Certainly, he has been on an impressive run of form and it is believed that United are in advanced negotiations with Benfica over the striker.
It is speculated that a fee in the region of €100m would be enough to prise the Portuguese to Old Trafford with Erik ten Hag in dire need of a proper No.9.
There is clarity from almost everyone on where major emphasis on recruitment is needed within the squad and a striker is top on the priority list.
While Wout Weghorst has done decently since his loan move from Burnley and even scored in front of the Stretford End against Real Betis but is just not of the quality to lead the line for Red Devils on a regular basis.
Hence, the need for a proper striker with Ramos, Harry Kane, Victory Osimhen and Dusan Vlahovic all being linked with a move to Old Trafford.
One cannot even fathom the impact that a Goncalo Ramos or a Harry Kane would have on the current squad and the position that we are in.

Ten Hag has done a commendable job which no one would have expected at the start of the season and while the Liverpool debacle was embarrassing, it was more of a blip which can happen to the best of sides.
Hopefully, the issue surrounding the ownership is resolved before the summer transfer window opens up so that all attention would be laid on securing a new striker and adding top quality to a rapidly improving squad.
