Inter Milan are interested in Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof
According to Sun (h/t Manchester Evening News), Inter Milan have renewed their interest in Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof.
The Serie A giants made a loan offer to United to sign the Sweden international in January, but Erik ten Hag blocked the move because he wanted to have a squad depth for the remainder of this season.
Inter, on the other hand, are set to lose Milan Skriniar and Stefan di Vrij as their contract is expiring in the summer.
Ten Hag would allow some of the fringe players to leave at the end of this season though, with Lindelof potentially being one of them. Once that is the case, the Italian side would be in the front of the queue to sign him.
The 28-year-old has only made 20 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils this season. He has fallen in the pecking order. The manager has preferred the partnership of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez, with Luke Shaw also being used as a centre-back.
Lindelof has been a great servant for the club since arriving from Benfica in 2017. He may not be the most famous player in the squad, but his quality and consistency in performance were there to be seen.
His current contract at Old Trafford lasts until the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt), with an option to extend that by a year. So, United can ask to get some fee by selling him at the end of this season. They signed him for £31m. While that amount may not be retrievable, somewhere below that range is possible.
