Manchester United ‘edging closer’ to signing Inter Milan full-back Denzel Dumfries
The Red Devils will look to acquire the 26-year-old’s services. For some time now, the full-back has been linked with a move to the Old Trafford side.
In the upcoming transfer window, the Nerazzurri are willing to cash in on the Dutch national. To that end, the Manchester-based club seem to be taking strides.
Dumfries could be subject to a swap deal. While United are trying to get hold of the 26-year-old’s signature, the Serie A giants are interested in taking Diogo Dalot back to Italy.
The Holland international made his way to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza side in the summer of 2021 from PSV Eindhoven. Since then, the full-back has been a key part of Simone Inzaghi’s team.
In the current campaign, Dumfries has once again been pivotal to Inter’s starting lineup. The 26-year-old has made 31 appearances in all competitions for the Nerazzurri, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
However, a swap deal with Dalot does not seem wise. The Portugal international was on loan at AC Milan for the 202/21 season. However, since returning to Manchester and being given chances by Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag, the 23-year-old has been an important player for us.
In the current campaign, the former FC Porto star has been the Dutch manager’s preferred choice at right-back. Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the only other player in the squad capable of playing on the right-hand side of the defence.

Considering Dalot’s performances, it would not be wise to part ways with him. Dumfries has a lot of quality. However, we seemingly do not need the 26-year-old as of now, considering the Portuguese right-back’s performances.
