Antony found it hard to sleep after historic Manchester United defeat against Liverpool
Manchester United star Antony found it hard to sleep after the Red Devils were beaten 7-0 by Liverpool, our biggest loss in the Premier League era.
The Old Trafford side visited Anfield on 5 March. After an evenly contested first half, the Merseysiders went into the break with a one-goal lead courtesy of Cody Gakpo.
Unfortunately, United completely crumbled in the second half. Jurgen Klopp’s team were relentless and overwhelmed us. Some of our players also looked clueless as we ended up conceding six more goals.
Antony played the full 90 minutes. However, the Brazilian struggled to do anything meaningful when he did have the ball. The winger also hardly tracked back to help out in defence.
Speaking to TNT Sports (h/t Manchester Evening News), the 22-year-old revealed that the loss was damaging. The forward was affected by it but is determined to move forward.
“We came from an extremely hurting defeat. It was hard to sleep that day, but in football you can’t cry about the past.”
Liverpool have struggled for most of the season. However, in recent weeks, the Anfield side have looked a bit better. But considering the form the two teams have been in, it was disappointing to see United not put up a fight.
Antony signed for the Red Devils in the summer of 2022 from Ajax. After a fast start to life in Manchester, the forward has found life a bit difficult at the Old Trafford side.
However, the 22-year-old has had his moments. In our last match against Real Betis in the Europa League, the Brazilian scored a brilliant goal in the 4-1 win.
