Roy Keane hoping that good days are back for Manchester United after the Carabao Cup win

As quoted by BBC Live, Manchester United legend Roy Keane shared his happiness for the club’s Carabao Cup success and hoped that the good days are back.

United ran out comfortable 2-0 winners over Newcastle United to lift their first major silverware in six years. Erik ten Hag has delivered a trophy in his very first season as the Red Devils boss.

The good thing about this success is that it gives the team some momentum ahead of the other key games remaining in this campaign. They are still alive in three competitions. So, there is a chance for this season to become extremely special.

Here’s what Keane said about the team just after their cup success (h/t BBC Live):

“You look at the players reaction and the supporters. They were desperate for success.

“All the build up was about Newcastle and their wait but five, six years for Manchester United seems a long time. They deserved their victory. They were efficient and scored two good goals. Hopefully it is the start of the good days coming back to United.”

With how ten Hag has done so far, one can imagine that this is not the only trophy United will lift under his tutelage. The Dutchman is an elite coach who manages players well and knows how to win games at the biggest of stages.

If we talk about other competitions, United welcome West Ham United for a crunch FA Cup tie on Wednesday with a place in the quarter-final on the line. A win there could take them one step closer to making another trip to Wembley.

In the Premier League, the Red Devils are eight points behind table-toppers Arsenal. While that gap looks big, there are 14 games still to be played. So, anything can happen if we keep winning our games.

Lastly, after getting past Barcelona in the playoff tie, ten Hag’s men are one of the favourites to win the Europa League. They face Real Betis in the last-16 tie of that competition.

What all that means is that while winning the Carabao Cup is a success to behold, Manchester United could end up disappointed will they not add more trophies to the cabinet by the end of May. We can hope this is the start of the good days coming back to the club.
