Mason Greenwood held crunch face-to-face meeting with Manchester United bosses
According to The Sun (h/t Metro), Mason Greenwood held face-to-face meetings with the bosses of Manchester United following the dropping of charges.
Back in October of 2022, Greenwood was charged with rape, coercive behaviour and bodily assault by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
A few weeks ago, those charges were dropped after key witnesses withdrew involvement in the case. Whether that makes him free of all the things he did, remains to be seen.
Though the charges have been dropped, United have decided to conduct its own investigation before a final decision on the 21-year-old is made.
The club wants to make a full understanding of the situation and bring up their own review, including talking with the player to listen to his version.
In a face-to-face meeting, United did that with Greenwood. It would be interesting to see what comes out after the personal investigation is done. The decision on his long-term future will be made after that.
Let’s be clear, this is not a situation where sentiments can take over. We heard the audio clips and the evidence was there for everyone to hear.
Now, unless Greenwood can prove his innocence with the right proof, United should not keep him anywhere close to the first team.
This won’t be the decision only for the 21-year-old but will create an example for anyone who attempts these things which are frankly heinous in nature.
For the first time in many years, the squad has looked united under the management of Erik ten Hag. Let’s not ruin that by welcoming a player back who has done something that bad.

The final word on this is that the best way for United to deal with this situation is by terminating the player’s contract. If he is innocent, let him prove it first.
