Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes happy with the silverware but wants more
Speaking to the media after winning the Carabao Cup (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes shared the amazing feeling of winning the silverware but wants more trophies this season.
The Carabao Cup was only the first opportunity for the Red Devils to have silverware in their hands so far this season. They are alive in the remaining three competitions going into the final three months of this exhilarating campaign.
Talking about the final, it was a more-or-less comfortable 2-0 win for United. Despite all the huff and puff from Newcastle United, Erik ten Hag’s men had control and scored the goals at the right time to snuff out any danger.
Here’s what Fernandes said after the full-time whistle amidst happy scenes (h/t Manchester Evening News):
“It’s an amazing feeling, we’ve been searching for this moment, us, the fans, the club, finally we get our trophy, we deserve it.
“It’s been an amazing period. The first trophy of the season but we want more. It’s not enough for this club, we want more and we need more because our standards deserve more.”
What this quote tells us is that while the players wanted to win this cup, they are hungry for more this season. It is the kind of elite mentality we desperately craved in a United squad since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson.
There is no time to rest for the players as West Ham United will come to Old Trafford for a crunch FA Cup tie on Wednesday. With a place in the quarter-final on the line, it is another opportunity for ten Hag’s men to take another step closer to making another trip to Wembley.
If we talk about the other two competitions, the league table has its own possibilities as well. We are currently eight points behind the leaders Arsenal, but there are 14 games still to be played.
On the other hand, having gone past Barcelona in the Europa League playoff tie, United can consider themselves one of the favourites to win that competition.

So, there are a lot of possibilities brewing up for this team. Fernandes is right to demand more from themselves going into the crunch part of the season. For now, though, it is time to enjoy this cup win.
