Marcus Rashford is in the Manchester United squad for the final following an injury scare
According to Manchester Evening News, Marcus Rashford has travelled to London and is in the Manchester United squad for the Carabao Cup Final against Newcastle United.
Rashford was a doubt for this game after coming off with his boot off against Barcelona on Thursday. There was a suspicion that he had picked up an ankle injury.
When asked about the availability of the 25-year-old for the final, manager Erik ten Hag was not sure about it and had to wait until the complete medical diagnosis was done.
It is good to know that he is fit to play this important game. As expected and confirmed by ten Hag on Friday, Anthony Martial is not in the squad.
Rashford, on the other hand, has been in excellent form, especially since the World Cup. He has 24 goals and nine assists in all competitions so far this season. But, this cup final is probably the first game of major importance where he can score or make a big impact to really what he is all about.
If he does either of them, the England international should be in the reckoning to win the Player of the Year Award, as rightly pointed out by pundit Jamie Carragher.
We all know that it’s been six years since United last lifted a major silverware. They are alive in all four competitions, which although is great news, winning the first final of the season creates the confidence to go for more.

So, let’s hope that Rashford and co. win this game and create a basis for a special ending to this extraordinary season. It would be tough against the best defence in the country. But, Newcastle do not have Nick Pope in goal and the potential fragility of Loris Karius is there to be tested.
