Napoli striker Victor Osimhen flattered about interest amidst Manchester United links
Victor Osimhen, currently at Napoli, is flattered about the interest in him from top sides, with Manchester United one of the clubs eyeing the striker.
The Red Devils are looking to buy a new number nine in the upcoming transfer window. To that end, the Nigeria international has been earmarked by the Old Trafford side to bolster their front line.
Speaking to ESPN (h/t Manchester Evening News), the 24-year-old expressed his delight at being on the radar of many big teams. And the former LOSC Lille star kept the door open about his future.
“When you are doing so well, top clubs around the world are watching, mostly in the top five leagues. And to be able to attract interest from these top clubs shows that I am doing great and it gives me the motivation to do even more for myself and my team.
“At the end of the season, we will see what is going to happen, but that is not up to me. It is for the club to decide.”
Osimhen made his way to Naples in the summer of 2020 from France. Initially, the striker needed some time to settle in. Injuries hampered his development a bit as well.
However, in the current campaign, the Nigerian has been the talisman a lot of people expected him to be for the Serie A giants. In 24 appearances in all competitions, the 24-year-old has scored 20 goals and has provided four assists.
Napoli are at the top of the league table at the moment. The Italian outfit are 15 points clear at the top of the Serie A table.

In the Partenopei’s recent fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16, Osimhen found the back of the net. The Nigerian looked threatening throughout as the Naples-based club won 2-0.
At United, Erik ten Hag has Anthony Martial and Wout Weghorst at his disposal as the only natural strikers. Unfortunately, the France international has been unavailable for most of the season due to fitness issues.
