Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial and Antony ‘doubtful’ for Manchester United vs Barcelona
Manchester United trio Harry Maguire, Anthony Martial and Antony are ‘doubtful’ to feature for Manchester United against Barcelona, according to Metro.
Our captain and the two forwards were missing from training ahead of the clash with the Blaugrana in the Europa League. The Red Devils will welcome the Spanish giants to Old Trafford on Thursday (23 February).
In the reverse fixture, the Manchester-based club came away with a 2-2 draw at Camp Nou. It was an exciting, end-to-end display from both teams.
Luke Shaw started alongside Raphael Varane in the backline in the first leg of the playoff tie. Lisandro Martinez was suspended for the match. The Argentine and former Real Madrid star have been Erik ten Hag’s preferred duo in the defence this season.
As a result, Maguire has found game time hard to come by. The 29-year-old has mostly been on the bench. The England international missed our previous match with Leicester City.
On the other hand, Martial has struggled with injuries in the current campaign. The France international has been unavailable for a considerable period. As a result, in recent games, Wout Weghorst has started up front in place of the 27-year-old.
Antony has been the gaffer’s first choice on the right wing since his arrival in the summer of 2022. However, the Brazilian has been a bit underwhelming. The 22-year-old has not had a big enough impact at United.
In the last few matches, Bruno Fernandes has been deployed on the right by Ten Hag. The Portugal international, who usually plays in the number 10 position, has thrived in the new role.

Maguire, Martial and Antony did not feature in the reverse fixture against Barcelona. Hopefully, we will be able to get the job done at home without the trio to call upon on Thursday.
