Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez ‘earmarked’ as alternative next summer by Manchester United
Lautaro Martinez, currently at Inter Milan, has been ‘earmarked’ by Manchester United as an alternative option to bolster the attack next summer, according to TeamTalk (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils have been linked with the Argentina international to add reinforcements up top. A new striker is on the agenda for the Old Trafford side and the 25-year-old is one of the players being eyed.
Napoli Victor Osimhen and Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane are the two main targets for United. But the former Racing Club forward is also in the club’s consideration.
Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea are also keen on Martinez. The Gunners have Eddie Nketiah backing up Gabriel Jesus. On the other hand, Graham Potter’s team have left a lot to be desired in front of goal this season.
The Argentina international joined Inter in the summer of 2018. Since then, he has grown from strength to strength and has developed into a quality striker.
In the current campaign, the 25-year-old has once again been the Nerazzurri’s talisman. In 49 appearances in all competitions, he has found the back of the net 25 times and has provided four assists.

Martinez also got to lift the prestigious World Cup trophy last year. While the 25-year-old lost his prominence in Lionel Scaloni’s starting lineup to Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez, he still played a key role in Qatar.
At United, the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo has left Erik ten Hag short of options in the number nine position. Anthony Martial and Wout Weghjorst are the only natural strikers available in the squad.

Therefore, we evidently need to add more quality up top. Martinez looks to be in his prime years. However, will the Red Devils sign him? Only time will tell.
