Manchester United urged to avoid transfer move for West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice
Former Manchester United star Dwight Yorke has suggested against the signing of West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice amidst links to the Red Devils.
The Old Trafford side are looking at the possibility of acquiring his services to bolster the middle of the park. However, the Hammers will look to get a hefty amount for the 24-year-old, with David Moyes previously mentioning a fee of £150 million.
However, speaking to OLBG (h/t Manchester Evening News), Yorke, who spent four seasons at Man United, does not feel the England international is as good as people make him out to be.
“Rice is a good player but he does not influence the game enough at a top level for me, I would not say he is as tremendous as everyone makes him out to be.”
Rice made his way through the youth ranks at West Ham. In the 2017/18 campaign, the midfielder broke into the Hammers’ senior side.
Since then, the 24-year-old has not looked back. The England international has also been handed the captain’s armband in Moyes’ team after Mark Noble’s retirement.
While Moyes’ team had an exceptional last season, this term, they have struggled and are currently in a relegation battle. Rice has made 28 appearances in all competitions for the Irons, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
Man United added Casemiro to their ranks in the summer of 2022. The Brazil international has been one of our best players in the current campaign. The 30-year-old has put in Man of the Match performances week in, week out for the Red Devils.
The Old Trafford side also got a hold of Christian Eriksen’s signature. This season, the Demark international has formed a brilliant duo in the engine room alongside Casemiro.
