Fred looking forward to Manchester United fixture against Leeds United
Manchester United star Fred is looking forward to the game against Leeds United on Wednesday (8 February) in the Premier League.
The Red Devils will take on the Peacocks at home before visiting Elland Road on Saturday (12 February). In our previous fixture, the Old Trafford side got back to winning ways in the English top flight with a 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.
Speaking to club media (h/t Manchester Evening News) ahead of the Leeds game, Fred expressed the importance of the match and stressed its rivalry.
“Games against Leeds are another ‘clasico’ of English football, a really important derby. Whenever we come up against them, everyone’s talking about it in the week leading up to the game.”
Man United have done well this season, considering the start they had under Erik ten hag. The Dutch manager lost his first two competitive matches in charge in the Old Trafford dugout.
At the moment, the Red Devils are in a good position in the league table. We have the chance to go level on points with bitter rivals Manchester City in second place with a win over the Peacocks.
Fred has been a key player for Man United this season. However, the 29-year-old has mostly played as a backup in the current campaign due to Casemiro and Christian Eriksen’s form.
However, the former Real Madrid star and the Denmark international will not be available for some time. The Brazilian is suspended for three games after being sent off against Palace, while the former Tottenham Hotspur star will be out for a considerable period due to an injury.
At the moment, Fred and Marcel Sabitzer are the only two midfielders at the gaffer’s disposal. Therefore, the Brazilian will evidently have a key role to play in the coming fixtures.
