Erik ten Hag hails Manchester United on loan midfielder Marcel Sabitzer as “outstanding”

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has hailed Bayern Munich loanee Marcel Sabitzer as an “outstanding player”. The Dutch manager has high expectations of him.

On deadline day last month, the Red Devils signed the Austria international on a temporary move from the Bundesliga giants. The 28-year-old made his debut for the Old Trafford side against Crystal Palace at home in the Premier League in the 2-1 victory.

Speaking to club media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag was all praise for Sabitzer. The gaffer believes the 28-year-old has the ability to make an impact at United for the rest of the campaign.

“Not only [can he have an impact] in the next three games coming up, we signed him and we said from the start of the season, we only want to bring in outstanding players, he is one of them.

“I think in the 20 minutes he played, we have already seen a little bit, but there is more to come, I am sure he will do [that].”

The Austria international’s arrival is a big boost for the Red Devils. Christian Eriksen has been sidelined at least until April after picking up a knock against Reading in the FA Cup.

Casemiro also picked up a red card in the win over the Eagles. The 30-year-old was sent off after an altercation with Will Hughes. He will now miss our next three matches in the English top flight.

Scott McTominay is also set to miss the match against Leeds United, having already been unavailable in our previous fixture. Donny van de Beek is also ruled out for the rest of the term.

At the moment, Fred and Sabitzer are the only two established midfielders available for Ten Hag. Thankfully, the former Shakhtar Donetsk star has found some form in recent weeks.

On the other hand, the Austria international will evidently have a big role to play in the next few games due to the lack of depth in United’s engine room.
