Serie A giants Napoli will be ‘more willing’ to sell Victor Osimhen next summer amidst interest from Manchester United if they win the Scudetto, according to Sky Italy’s Gianluca Di Marzio via Soccer News (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Partenopei are currently first in the league, 12 points ahead of second place and reigning champions AC Milan. They look on course to lift the prestigious title after over three decades.
In the upcoming transfer window, the Red Devils are looking to get a striker. The Nigerian is one of the players on the Old Trafford side’s shortlist to bolster the front line.
Osimhen is the preferred option for many around United. While the Naples-based club will be more open to parting ways with the 24-year-old, they could demand around €120 million for him.
Napoli has been in fine form under Luciano Spalletti. The Partenopei were impressive in the group stages of the Champions League as well, pipping Liverpool to the top spot.
Osimhen has been key to the Serie A giants’ success. In the current campaign, the Nigerian has made 19 appearances in all competitions for the Italian outfit, scoring 14 goals and providing four assists.
Erik ten Hag currently has Anthiny Martial and Wout Weghorst at his disposal for the number nine position. The France international has been injury prone this season, while the Holland international has been signed on loan until the end of the campaign.
Marcus Rashford has shouldered the burden of the Red Devils’ attack this term. The 25-year-old is the club’s leading goalscorer in all competitions under the Dutch manager.
