Manchester United reach ‘agreement’ with Argentine sensation Alejandro Garnacho over new contract
Manchester United have reached an ‘agreement’ with Argentine national Alejandro Garnacho over a new contract that will see him stay until 2029, according to Football Transfers (h/t Manchester Evening New).
The 18-year-old has been in constant discussions with the Red Devils over a new deal. He had rejected a £20,000-per-week offer that led to the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus monitoring the youngster’s situation in Manchester.
However, the Old Trafford side have been confident about securing Garnacho’s future. The club wanted to find a middle ground with the forward but did not want to over-reward him.
Thankfully, the 18-year-old seems to have put pen to paper in a long-term contract. The Argentine national will earn £30,000 per week and will get performance-related add-ons.
Garnacho has broken onto the scene at United in fine fashion in the current campaign. He has come in clutch in crucial moments this season.
The 18-year-old was handed his full debut for the Red Devils against Sheriff Tiraspol in the Europa League group stages. In the 3-0 victory over the Moldovan outfit, the youngster played 79 minutes.
Subsequently, the Argentine national scored his first goal for the senior side in the UEL as we beat Real Sociedad 1-0. Since then, Erik ten Hag has put more faith in the forward.
Garnacho was also instrumental in the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa, getting two assists in the 4-2 win. He then secured three points for the Old Trafford side with a stoppage-time winner against Fulham. The youngster also set up Marcus Rashford in the comeback win over Manchester City.
