Facundo Pellistri in ‘advanced talks’ to join Flamengo on loan from Manchester United in January
Manchester United star Facundo Pellistri is in ‘advanced talks’ to join Flamengo on loan before the end of the ongoing transfer window, according to O Globo (h/t Mirror).
The Brazilian outfit are set to cover the 20-year-old’s entire wages for the rest of the campaign. Vitor Pereira, the head coach of the Mengao, has given the go-ahead for the temporary move.
Recently, Erik ten Hag had alluded to the Uruguay international remaining at the club. However, it seems the Dutch manager will have to see the youngster depart.

Pellistri joined the Old Trafford side in the summer of 2020 from Penarol. However, since then, the forward has spent most of his time on loan. For a season and a half, the 20-year-old plied his trade at Deportivo Alaves before coming back to Manchester last summer.
The Uruguayan played a part for United during the pre-season. However, Ten Hag has been reluctant to hand the youngster a lot of minutes on the pitch.
Pellistri finally made his debut for the Red Devils against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. The winger came on in the dying minutes of the match and provided an assist for Marcus Rashford in the 3-0 victory.
The Uruguayan has found game time hard to come by due to the competition in the squad. Apart from the established attackers, players like Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga have been more prominently featured than the 20-year-old.

Apart from Flamengo, their rivals Botafago were also interested in taking Pellistri on loan. However, the Old Trafford side were unable to come to terms with the Brazilian outfit.
United have previous ties with the Mengao, having loaned Andreas Pereira to them in the previous campaign. Now, it remains to be seen how the Uruguayan youngster will develop if he moves there.
