Borussia Dortmund have ‘checked conditions’ for Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga loan move
Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have ‘checked conditions’ to take Manchester United star Anthony Elanga on loan in the ongoing transfer window, according to Sport1’s Patrick Berger on Twitter (h/t Manchester Evening News).
Several clubs are looking to acquire the 20-year-old’s services in January. Along with the German outfit, Premier League side Everton are also interested in the Sweden international.
Elanga’s current contract with the Red Devils expires in the summer of 2026. The Old Trafford side are keen on keeping a hold of the youngster. Therefore, any move at the moment would be a temporary one.
However, it remains to be seen where the 20-year-old will end up this month. While BVB are eyeing his signature, they are yet to put in an official bid for the forward.
The Sweden international broke into United’s first team in the previous campaign. Under Ralf Rangnick, he enjoyed regular minutes.
But Erik ten Hag has not been as reliant on Elanga this season. The likes of Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial have found their feet once again in Manchester.
In the previous campaign, the France international joined Sevilla on loan in January, while the England international struggled to make an impact. Thankfully, the 25-year-old has gotten back to his best.
Also, the Old Trafford side signed Antony from Ajax in the previous transfer window. The Brazil international has been the gaffer’s preferred choice on the right wing. Alejandro Garnacho has also been clutch for the Dutch manager this season.

As a result, Elanga has fallen down the pecking order. United have also signed Wout Weghorst to bolster the front line. Therefore, if Dortmund are willing to give the Sweden international regular minutes on the pitch, it would be wise for the club to consider letting the 20-year-old leave.
