Negotiations for Fulham right-back Kevin Mbabu at ‘advanced stage’ over move to Manchester United
Manchester United are eyeing Fulham star Kevin Mbabu, with negotiations at an advanced stage for the Switzerland international’s move to Old Trafford, according to TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Express).
A deal for the right-back to move to Erik ten Hag’s team could be close. Along with the Red Devils, Serie A outfit Monza have also been linked with the 27-year-old’s signature.
United were looking to bolster the right-back spot in the ongoing transfer window. Diogo Dalot has been the first choice for most of the campaign. However, the 23-year-old has suffered due to injuries in recent weeks.
Prior to the 2022 World Cup, Aaron Wan-Bissaka could not get into the Dutch manager’s plans. The 25-year-old only played the final minutes against Liverpool in the 2-1 Premier League win before the mid-season break.
However, with the Portugal international unavailable, the England U21 international has done well with his chances. The former Crystal Palace star has put in some decent displays as of late.
As a result, Wan-Bissaka has become a key player for the rest of the campaign. But it remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old will be keen to be behind Dalot in the pecking order come next season.
Mbabu joined Fulham in the previous transfer window from VfL Wolfsburg. The Swiss national was a pivotal player for the German outfit over the years.
However, at the Craven Cottage side, the 27-year-old has not been handed a lot of opportunities. Marco Silva has preferred Kenny Tete as the right-back.

Mbabu has not made Fulham’s matchday squad in the last few fixtures. At the moment, United do not seem to require additional support for Dalot or Wan-Bissaka. However, the 27-year-old could serve as a replacement for the former Palace star if he decides to leave next summer.
