Manchester United ‘ready’ to listen to offers for Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Tom Heaton
Manchester United are ‘ready’ to listen to offers for several out-of-favour stars, including Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe and Tom Heaton, according to Football Insider (h/t The Sun).
The two centre-backs and the goalkeeper have hardly seen any minutes on the pitch this season. As a result, Erik ten Hag is looking to part ways with them in the ongoing transfer window.
Jones has had a hard time with injuries over the years. The English national last played for the Red Devils in May. In four seasons, the 31-year-old has featured just 13 times for the Old Trafford side.

Tuanzebe has also found game time hard to come by under the Dutch manager. The 25-year-old is United’s academy product. But he has been unable to make a mark in Manchester over the years.
The England U21 international has spent time out on loan at clubs like Aston Villa and Napoli. However, fitness issues have not helped the defender’s cause.
Currently, the Red Devils have a stacked backline with the likes of Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at Ten Hag’s disposal. The French and Argentine centre-backs have been the gaffer’s preferred duo this season.

As for Heaton, the veteran shot-stopper made his way back to United in the summer of 2021, having initially left the club on a permanent basis in 2010 without making an appearance.
Finally, against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup in the 3-0 victory in the current campaign, the 36-year-old got his first start for the Old Trafford side. But David de Gea is the first choice for Ten Hag in between the sticks and we also got Jack Butland on loan for the rest of the season this month.

Jones and Tuanzebe are seemingly surplus to requirements at United. But it is wise to keep Heaton as the second or third-choice goalkeeper. However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to part ways with either of them in January.
