Memphis Depay ‘will leave’ Barcelona in January amidst Manchester United links
Former Manchester United star Memphis Depay ‘will leave’ Barcelona in the ongoing transfer window amidst links of him moving back to the Old Trafford side, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter (h/t The Sun).
Inter Milan had been mooted as a potential destination for the Holland international. However, the 28-year-old’s agent has denied the talks. A move to the Nerazzurri is “not a possibility” currently being discussed by the player’s camp.
Apart from the Red Devils, Premier League table-toppers Arsenal are also eyeing Depay’s signature. Atletico Madrid are also in the race to acquire the 28-year-old’s services in January.
The Holland international has found game time at Barcelona hard to come by under Xavi. However, the forward did show glimpses of his talent in the 2022 World Cup with the Netherlands.
Mikel Arteta’s team are currently flying high in the league. However, the depth in their squad leaves a lot to be desired. With Gabriel Jesus on the sidelines, Eddie Nketiah has been leading the Gunners’ attack.
On the other hand, Diego Simeone’s team have struggled this season. Up front, they had a lot of talent to count on. But they have lost Matheus Cunha, who joined Wolves, and Joao Felix, who made his way to Chelsea on loan, this month.
As for United, we signed Wout Weghorst to bolster our forward line after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. But the 30-year-old is only a short-term option, having signed for the Red Devils until the end of the campaign from Burnley.
Marcus Rashford has scored most of our goals this season. But Anthony Martial has had a hard time remaining fit since Erik ten Hag’s arrival.

Depay presents a good opportunity in the market at the moment. However, it remains to be seen whether United will present the 28-year-old with the opportunity to redeem himself with a move back to the Theatre of Dreams.
