Manchester United ready to battle PSG and enter bidding war for SL Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos
Manchester United are ready to battle Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and are ‘prepared’ to enter a bidding war for SL Benfica star Goncalo Ramos, according to Portuguese outlet O Jogo (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The Red Devils are amongst the three potential suitors for the 21-year-old’s signature. Along with the Parisians, Newcastle United are also in the race to acquire the striker’s services.
Ramos is tied down to the Primeira Liga outfit until the summer of 2025. His current deal includes a mammoth €120 million release clause. The Eagles are looking to extend his stay in hopes of igniting a bidding war in the upcoming transfer window.
The Portugal international made his way through the youth ranks at Benfica. He broke into the Primeira Liga outfit’s first team in the previous campaign. However, Darwin Nunez was the main man for the Eagles back then.
With the Uruguayan’s move to Liverpool in the summer of 2022, the 21-year-old has taken the mantle for Benfica. He has found the back of the net 17 times and has provided seven assists in 26 appearances in all competitions for the Eagles this season.
Ramos also shone for his national side in the 2022 World Cup. The 221-year-old scored a hat-trick against Switzerland in the round of 16 in Qatar. But Portugal were unable to get past Morocco in the quarter-finals.
United lost Cristiano Ronaldo midway through the campaign. The 37-year-old has been replaced by Wout Weghorst in the squad, who has joined from Burnley on loan for the rest of the season.
Marcus Rashford has shouldered the burden of the Red Devils’ attack under Erik ten Hag. We also have Anthony Martial but the France international has struggled to remain fit in the current campaign.

Therefore, the Old Trafford side evidently require a quality number nine in the coming transfer window. Ramos is a young and talented prospect. But it remains to be seen whether we will be successful in our bid to capture the Portuguese star’s signature.
