Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is planning to raid former club Ajax Amsterdam
According to The Sun (h/t Manchester Evening News), Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is keen to go back to his former club Ajax Amsterdam to raid three more players from the Dutch side, after already securing the transfers of Lisandro Martinez and Antony in the 2022 summer transfer window.
Ten Hag is developing a policy of recruiting players that he has managed previously or played against. Therefore a lot of the new signings at the club have come from the Eredivisie.
It seems like he is going to continue with the practice and aim to target three more players in Jurrien Timber, Devyne Rensch and Kenneth Taylor. All three are currently impressing at Ten Hag’s former club- Ajax.
Timber was the first primary target to solve the defensive issue for Ten Hag when he took over but the then Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal was not in support of the move. The talented centre-back chose to stay at Ajax for at least another season.
There is no doubt about the player’s quality as he was a regular for the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup and a big move for the player is definitely on the cards in the coming seasons.
Ten Hag replacing either Harry Maguire or Victor Lindelof with TImber would be an astute signing and something that goes well with the way the manager wants to implement his style of play.
With the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka being uncertain, a right-back is also a priority for United to provide good competition to Diogo Dalot and Rensch could be the young energetic full-back that Ten Hag has been looking for and who would not cost as much as other options.
United’s current three midfield set-up is good with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen and Casemiro building a formidable partnership but there still needs to be good cover for us to be in a position to challenge for all trophies.

Taylor is one of the rising stars of the Eredivisie and has really come to life this season and is earning rave reviews for his performances for the Dutch outfit.
Currently, there are financial strains on the club due to the Glazers trying to sell their ownership, hence any major investment in the squad would only be done in the summer transfer window and the above-mentioned targets are certainly something to keep an eye on.
