Wout Weghorst determined to give his all for Manchester United after loan deal confirmed
Manchester United have confirmed the loan signing of Wout Weghorst, with the Holland international, determined to give his all for the club in the next few months.
The 30-year-old has joined the Red Devils on a temporary move from Burnley until the end of the season. Prior to this, the striker was at Besiktas for half of the 2022/23 campaign.
Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Weghorst expressed his delight at being part of the Old Trafford side. He is looking forward to the rest of the season in Manchester.
“I feel privileged to be joining Manchester United. I’ve played against the club in the past and it’s a fantastic feeling to now have the chance to pull on the famous red shirt.
“Whatever happens in the next few months, I can promise to give everything to the club for as long as I am here.”
Cristiano Ronaldo recently departed the club. The 37-year-old’s untimely exit came after his contract at United was terminated by mutual consent midway through the campaign.
In order to bolster the forward line, the Red Devils turned to the former Wolfsburg star. However, in order to get his signature from the Turkish outfit, the Old Trafford side had to pay £2.6 million.
United have no option or obligation to buy the Holland international at the end of his loan spell. As a result, it does not compel the Manchester-based club to make a decision on the striker’s future for now.
Weghorst joined Burnley in January 2022. However, the 30-year-old was unable to keep Burnley in the Premier League. The Clarets were relegated and the striker joined Besiktas.
At the Super Lig outfit, the Holland international has been decent. He scored nine goals and provided four assists in 18 appearances in all competitions for the Turkish club.
