Ajax want more than £35 million for Mohammed Kudus with Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag ‘keen’
Manchester United will have to pay more than £35 million if they want to land Ajax star Mohammed Kudus in the ongoing transfer window, according to the Daily Star.
The Dutch manager is ‘on a collision course’ with his former side the Eredivisie outfit put forth their demands. Ten Hag feels the Amsterdam-based club are trying to cash in on the 22-year-old with their enormous demands.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from the Old Trafford side has dwindled the former Ajax head coach’s options up front. Ten Hag is ‘keen’ on bolstering the attack in January and the Ghana international is being eyed by him. However, the Eredivisie outfit’s price tag could force the gaffer to look elsewhere.
Kudus signed for the side from Amsterdam in the summer of 2020. Back then, Ten Hag was the manager at Ajax and slowly integrated the 22-year-old into the first-team setup.
However, in the current campaign, the forward has taken his game to the next level. The Ghanaian has made 21 appearances in all competitions, primarily in the number nine position, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists.
Kudus was also a key player for the Black Stars at the 2022 World Cup. The 22-year-old started in every group-stage fixture for Ghana in Qatar, scoring two goals against South Korea. But Otto Addo’s team were unable to make it to the knockout rounds.
At United, Anthony Martial is the only natural striker in the squad at the moment. Unfortunately, the France international has not been reliable in terms of his fitness this season.
Marcus Rashford has also played up top a number of times in the current campaign. The 25-year-old has done well and exceeded some people’s expectations with his displays.

However, we evidently need more numbers in the attack. Kudus has been in fine form this term and for many, the aforementioned price tag wouldn’t seem a lot, especially given what we paid for Antony last year. But Ten Hag knows the player well and if the gaffer feels Ajax’s price tag is too much, then we should listen to him.
