Atletico Madrid demands for Joao Felix loan ‘not appealing’ as Manchester United make contact
Manchester United have made contact with Atletico Madrid for Joao Felix but the Spanish club’s demand’s for a loan move are ‘not appealing’, according to CBS Sports’ Ben Jacobs on Twitter.
The Red Devils have held a recent dialogue with Los Rojiblancos. However, it needs a ‘give’ from the La Liga outfit for negotiations to progress. A price drop as the ongoing transfer window runs down could also be a solution.
A £5 million fee for the temporary deal is deemed ‘reasonable’ if the Old Trafford side are to cover the Portugal international’s wages. However, it remains to be seen how the situation unfolds.
The 23-year-old joined Atletico in the summer of 2019 from SL Benfica. His performances in the Primeira Liga compelled the La Liga outfit to buy the forward.
However, Felix has failed to live up to expectations at the Spanish capital. He has failed to remain consistent and it isn’t foolish on our part to demand a lower price tag. It’s not our fault what they paid for him.
Solid displays from the Portuguese at the Madrid-based club have been few and far between. In the current campaign, Diego Simeone seems to have lost faith in the 23-year-old. Prior to the mid-season break, the forward had spent most of his time on the bench.
However, Felix showed glimpses of his talent at the 2022 World Cup. The 23-year-old was a key player for Fernando Santos’ team. However, Portugal were unable to make it past the quarter-finals in Qatar.
United currently have just one natural nine in Anthony Martial after Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. Marcus Rashford has also played up top on several occasions and while he has scored his fair share of goals, he seems to lack the natural poacher’s touch you get with a natural centre-forward..

However, Felix is not the out-and-out striker we evidently need. Thus, it would be wise for the club to turn their attention to other options to bolster the attack in the ongoing transfer window.
