Erik ten Hag confirms Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United and will return to squad training in due time

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Jadon Sancho has returned to the club and will resume squad training in due time. For now, the 22-year-old will train separately from his teammates.

The England international had been in the Netherlands during the 2022 World Cup break. He was involved in an individual training programme and missed the Red Devils’ friendlies in Spain.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag revealed that Sancho was back at the Old Trafford side. However, the Dutch manager has been conservative about the forward’s return date.

“Yes, of course, there is coming a time but the time is not now.

“But he is making progress. We will see when he is ready to return to the squad. He is back in Manchester. He will start in individual training.”

The 22-year-old last featured for United in our 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League. Since then, the England international has been on the bench on a few occasions or has been completely left out of the squad.

Sancho joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2021 from Borussia Dortmund. The 22-year-old had joined the German outfit from Manchester City and developed into a fine player at the Bundesliga outfit.

However, the winger has been unable to replicate his Dortmund form in Manchester. The forward struggled in his debut season with the Old Trafford side.

But it looked like Sancho had found his feet in the current campaign with Ten Hag’s arrival. Unfortunately, the youngster has been unable to remain consistent this term.

As a result, the 22-year-old also missed out on a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad that travelled to Qatar. The Three Lions made it to the quarter-finals at the 2022 World Cup.

Sancho has shown glimpses of his talent this season. Hopefully, after the youngster’s individual training sessions, the 22-year-old is able to kickstart his career in Manchester.
