Manchester United forward Anthony Elanga is dissatisfied with his current game-time

According to Transfer Insider Simon Phillips on GiveMeSport (h/t The Express), Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga is ‘fed up’ mainly due to the fact that he has fallen down the pecking order amid the arrivals of Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.

The 2021/22 season was the breakthrough season for the electric winger and especially when Ralf Rangnick was appointed as interim manager, the Swede was provided with more game time to nourish his development.

Therefore, the second half of last season is when many supporters were able to see Elanga in action and what all he can provide to the team.

An avid hard worker for the team with a knack for trickery and direct shooting, the forward did show glimpses of the potential that he carries and why he was so highly rated at the club’s academy.

Like us, Elanga would have expected to kick on from last season and carry on the momentum in the current season to solidify his position in the first team.

However, the appointment of Erik ten Hag who was insistent on bringing Antony from Ajax and the recent emergence of another young talent Alejandro Garnacho has reduced Elanga’s game time to mere substitution appearances.

As a result, the player is fed up with his current situation and as mentioned above, is looking for a way out ideally through a loan move to get regular minutes under his belt. He has played 11 games in the Premier League this season, but that has amounted to only 371 minutes of action.

Frank Lampard’s Everton are deemed to be interested in acquiring the services of the player and there are claims of a January approach by the Toffees for the Swede International.

I think it would be wise to say that a loan move for Elanga would actually make total sense, especially seeing the development that other players from the club in Amad, Hannibal Mejbri, Ethan Laird and Tahith Chong are benefiting from.

No training can give the exposure in the manner that playing regularly does and with the competition for places in terms of Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Antony, Anthony Martial and Garnacho vying, it seems tough that Elanga will get his desired wish at Old Trafford.

Hopefully, Ten Hag’s public wish for a striker is fulfilled by the board which can have a domino effect on Elanga’s future at the club.
