Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag believes Marcus Rashford is capable of scoring 20 goals in the Premier League for the Red Devils this season. The Dutch manager feels the England international has that potential.

The 25-year-old is currently the Red Devils’ leading goalscorer in the current campaign. He has found the back of the net nine times in 20 appearances in all competitions this term.

Speaking to the media via Manchester Evening News, Ten Hag is reluctant to give the exact number of goals Rashford will score. However, the Dutch manager is confident that the 25-year-old has the ability to score many goals.

“I don’t want to pin myself to a number. I said from the start, I said it from one of the first days Rashy is capable of scoring 20 goals in the Premier League only. So I’m convinced about that.

“He now has four but he scored many other goals. He scored three at the World Cup, so then he has the potential to score those numbers of goals in the Premier League.”

The England international has come up through the youth ranks at United. His breakout season came in the 2016/17 campaign. Since then, the forward has developed into a great talent.

Rashford’s highest goal tally in the league during his United career so far came in the 2019/20 season. The forward found the back of the net 17 times in 31 PL appearances.

However, the

England international had a small blip last term. After the Euro 2020 final heartbreak with the Three Lions, the 25-year-old seemed to have lost his confidence. The academy graduate did not have the desired impact when he featured in the previous campaign.

Fortunately, Ten Hag has managed to get Rashford back on his feet. The 25-year-old looks full of energy and seems to be determined this season.

The Dutch manager has had to deploy the England international in the number nine role on several occasions. Anthony Martial has had issues with injuries in the current campaign, while Ten Hag did not give Cristiano Ronaldo many starts when he was at the club.
