Manchester United ‘confident’ of signing Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong in the summer of 2023
Manchester United are confident of capturing the signature of Barcelona and the Netherlands star Frenkie de Jong in the summer of 2023, according to Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Manchester Evening News).
In the recent transfer window, the Red Devils were interested in the 25-year-old. However, a deal failed to materialise. But the club are willing to try once again.
Erik ten Hag is prioritising Holland international’s signature for next summer. The Old Trafford side are optimising about landing the midfielder’s signing.

Unfortunately, the Blaugrana have stated that De Jong is not for sale. The Catalan outfit are trying to increase the midfielder’s price tag by doing that.
The Holland international signed for Barcelona in the summer of 2019 from Ajax. After he thrived under then-manager Ten Hag in Amsterdam, the Spanish giants opted to acquire the 25-year-old’s services.
Over the years, De Jong has been one of the best midfielders in the world. However, with Xavi’s arrival in the Camp Nou side’s dugout, the Holland international initially found game time hard to come by.
Sergio Busquets, Pedri and Gavi started the majority of the fixtures at the start of the 2022/23 campaign. But the 25-year-old has managed to make himself a part of the Spanish manager’s plans and has found regular game time in recent fixtures for the La Liga outfit.
United added reinforcements in the middle of the park in the summer of 2022 with the arrival of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen. The Danish and Brazilian have been impressive for the Red Devils in their short time at the club.

But De Jong is another player who can make a difference in any team. The midfielder shone for the Netherlands in Qatar. Hopefully, we end up getting the 25-year-old early next summer and do not end up wasting our time as we did in the recent transfer window.
