Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram ‘wants to join’ Manchester United in the coming months
Marcus Thuram, Borussia Monchengladbach star, ‘wants to join’ Manchester United in the winter or summer transfer windows, according to Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 25-year-old is eager to join the Red Devils in the coming months. His current contract expires at the end of the season and the forward could leave Die Fohlen for free at the end of the campaign.
Considering the France international is set to become a free agent, the Bundesliga outfit are keen on cashing in on him. Thus, the German side could allow the striker to leave for as little as £8.5 million in January.
Thuram joined Gladbach in the summer of 2019 from Guingamp. Since then, he has been a decent servant for the Bundesliga outfit.
However, the 25-year-old has taken his game to the next level this season. Daniel Farke has opted to play the forward down the middle instead of out wide. As a result, the French national’s output has increased.
In the current campaign, the striker has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Die Fohlen. He has found the back of the net 13 times and provided four assists.
Thuram was also a big part of Didier Deschamps’ team that made it to the 2022 World Cup final. The 25-year-old usually came on as a substitute for Les Bleus during the tournament. But he featured extensively in the final after coming on as a substitute in the first half.
United’s current forward line has only one natural striker in Anthony Martial. However, the 27-year-old has struggled with injuries in the current campaign. As a result, Marcus Rashford has played as a makeshift centre-forward.
