Chelsea contact agents of Borussia Dortmund sensation Youssoufa Moukoko, who is being eyed by Manchester United
Premier League rivals Chelsea have made contact with the representatives of Borussia Dortmund star Youssoufa Moukoko, who is being eyed by Manchester United, according to 90min (h/t Manchester Evening News).
The 18-year-old is being monitored by the Red Devils. However, it is the Blues who have reached out to the Germany international’s agents. The Stamford Bridge side are hoping to take the lead in the race for the youngster’s signature.
Spanish giants Barcelona are also in the race for the forward. But BVB are keen on keeping hold of him and are making efforts for the same.
Graham Potter’s team have seemingly struggled in front of goal this term. Raheem Sterling is their highest goalscorer this season, with five goals in all competitions.
Moukoko made his way through the youth ranks at Dortmund. He had already caught a lot of people’s attention during his youth career. Subsequently, he managed to break into the Bundesliga outfit’s first team in the 2020/21 campaign,
However, the 18-year-old has broken out this season. He has become a regular member of the starting lineup under Edin Terzic in the current campaign.
In 22 appearances this term in all competitions for Dortmund, the forward has scored six goals and provided six assists. The youngster made it into Germany’s 26-man World Cup squad and featured in Qatar. However, Hansi Flick’s team were unable to make it out of the group stages.
United have a host of young talent in the squad this season. Erik ten Hag has called upon the likes of Alejandro Garnacho and Anthony Elanga. Antony and Jadon Sancho are also currently only 22 years old.
Up top, we evidently need a striker after Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit from the club just before the start of the World Cup. Anthony Martial is the only natural number nine at the Dutch manager’s disposal as of now.
